Being a writer can be described in two words- The Agony and The Ecstasy. The agony comes from the process itself. Finding just the right word, sentence and paragraph. Struggling to build your characters into people readers will not just want to know more about, but people that will make them care what comes next. Then there is choosing the right setting, crafting great dialog and the list goes on. Hard work. The ecstasy comes from the very things that make you rip out hair by the roots. If you’ve every laughed with joy once you found the perfect word or sentence, giggled at the delicious scene you created and danced like a crazy person upon seeing your words in print then you know the ecstasy is divine. The agony you went through to create your story makes the joy worth it. Or we wouldn’t keep torturing ourselves, would we?
Sometimes the agony hits a writer when the words won’t come. We call that the dreaded writer’s block. Don’t freak – here are a few helpful tips on Busting Through The Block
